What you actually pay

Each attempt costs US$200. The assessment password does not expire, so you can buy it and start when you are ready, with no slot to book. But it is good for one attempt only — failing means buying another.

The real financial risk is failing: at an 85% pass mark, 68 of 80, a candidate scoring 80% in practice is likely to pay twice. Practising until you clear the mark comfortably under real conditions costs less than a second attempt.

Who can sit PSM I?

Anyone. Scrum.org requires neither a course nor a prerequisite: you buy the assessment and take it online when you choose. An official course can help, but it is not a condition.

And afterwards?

The certification does not expire and carries no annual fee, unlike PeopleCert (ITIL, PRINCE2) and Scaled Agile (SAFe) certifications, which renew.
