Is the PSM I exam available in French?

No. Scrum.org offers the PSM I assessment in English, in Japanese (at scrum.org) and in Simplified Chinese (through scrum.org.cn). There is no French version.

What that changes on the day

You read 80 questions in English in 60 minutes, which is 45 seconds each. Reading speed matters as much as knowing the framework: a question read twice because one word stalled you is time taken from the next ones.

The questions use the exact vocabulary of the most recent English Scrum Guide: accountabilities, commitments, Increment, Definition of Done. Confusing those with loose translations is a classic source of wrong answers, against an 85% pass mark.

What Scrum.org advises

Scrum.org recommends studying the Scrum Guide in your own language first — it exists in French and more than 30 other languages — and then reviewing the English version to get used to the vocabulary of the assessment. Questions on the rules, artifacts, events and accountabilities are based on the English version.

Scrum.org also says many test-takers have successfully used the Google Translate plugin during the assessment, while noting that it cannot guarantee the quality of the translation. Machine translation can blur the one word a question turns on, so knowing the English term beats relying on it.

How to prepare

Practise in English, as the exam is: Kwestio’s questions are, while the explanations, lessons and interface are in French on the French site. Work topic by topic, then sit a timed 80-question, 60-minute mock exam to check your English reading keeps pace.
