A worked example

A question from the bank with its answer and the reasoning behind it. Every practice question comes with an explanation like this one.

A stakeholder repeatedly interrupts the Sprint Review to raise unrelated concerns about a different product. What is the most effective response from the Scrum Master?

  • AAsk the stakeholder to leave the event
  • BAcknowledge the concern, park it visibly with a commitment to a specific follow-up, and return the event to its purpose(correct answer)
  • CAllow the discussion, since stakeholder input is the point of the event
  • DAsk the Product Owner to handle it after the event without saying so now

Why

Facilitation protects the purpose of an event without dismissing people. Naming the concern, recording it where everyone can see, and committing to a specific follow-up satisfies the stakeholder while reclaiming the event. Removing them (A) damages a relationship the Product Owner needs, allowing it (C) sacrifices the inspection the event exists for, and silent deferral (D) leaves the stakeholder feeling ignored.
